LáLew Cares: Engaging With and Caring for Our Communities
We’re excited to share that we’re bringing back a beloved initiative, called LáLew Cares - a program where we highlight the ways our team members are giving back to their communities. Through this initiative, we aim to show how volunteering your time and resources brings valuable rewards and benefits, not only to your community but also to you personally.
With team members working remotely across various locations, including Rochester, NY, Pittsburgh, PA, Greensboro, NC, and even college campuses across the country, the impact of LáLew's care is far-reaching. We’re proud to see LáLew Cares expanding into communities near and far, and we encourage all of our team members to contribute their time and energy.

I can't pinpoint exactly when I realized that my passion for giving back came from my parents, but it's clear to me now that it did. As a kid, we always gathered our outgrown clothes for my mom to drop off at the church. I also remember that before Christmas, we’d sort through our toys, choosing ones we no longer played with—still in good condition with plenty of "play" left in them—and my parents would box them up to ensure another child could enjoy them. As I grew older, I learned that both of my parents' childhood birthdays and Christmases were filled with hand-me-downs. Now, I understand how deeply they valued the act of giving back and paying it forward.
One of my favorite ways to give back is by donating gently used clothes, and I continue to do so today. Here in Rochester, we’re fortunate to have an incredible organization dedicated to empowering unemployed and underemployed women. They provide a supportive network, professional attire, and essential career development tools to help women achieve economic independence and thrive both at work and in life.

Clean Sweep - Rochester

I don't volunteer as much as I think I should. I feel like it's good for the soul to give back when you can. To do something worthy and not expect payment for your services.
Being born and raised in the City of Rochester, I love my city. Our city has had its challenges and you only hear about the bad that happens here. I want to be a part of the good.
My first Clean Sweep, I participated with my husband and a friend from work. We were assigned to the Cornhill/Plymouth Ave neighborhood. This year, I participated with my daughter, Jessica Lewis, owner of LáLew Public Relations. Jessica and I, alongside other volunteers, were assigned to David R. Gantt Center located in the NE section of the City. Assemblyman Gantt was a civil rights activist and served as a Rochester Assemblyman for nearly 40 years. I grew up in this neighborhood so it was good to share some of my stories and experiences with my daughter. We are looking forward to next year's Clean Sweep and we will be looking for more volunteers to join us.
